1979-2000: Chairman of Department of Ophthalmology III (Retina and Vitreous Surgery) at the Eberhard Karls University Tuebingen, Germany, being the first woman in Germany who got a chair for Surgery in Ophthalmology.

TRAINING OF RETINAL SPECIALISTS AND THEIR SUBSEQUENT POSITIONS

During the period at Bonn and Tuebingen, there were since 1973 more than 300 ophthalmologists trained from 12 Eastern European countries and Russia, North, Middle and South America, China, Kuwait, Egypt, Israel, Palestine, Iran, Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Turkey, Italy, France, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Japan , etc.

Many of them had become the local organizer of the 136 Teaching Courses up to 2023, or the Head of a Department of Posterior Segment of the Eye, or the Chairperson of a Department of Ophthalmology at a University: Prof. Gisbert Richard (Hamburg/Germany), Prof. Krystyna Pecold (Poznan/Poland), Prof. Jesus Gonzales Cortes (Monterrey, Mexico), Prof. Nelly Sivkova (Plovdiv/Bulgaria), Prof. Stavros Dimitrakos (Thessaloniki/Greece).

CLINICAL INTERESTS

Retinal detachment surgery, here in particular: Extraocular minimal surgery for repair, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), posterior segment laser surgery, angiography, OCT, Medical Retina. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and application of intravitreal pharmacotherapy for various edematous and neovascular retinal/macular diseases.
