Michaela Hoesl received her M.Sc in Physics from the Ludwigs-Maximilians University Munich in April 2015. From 2014-2015 she joined the research group at the Department of Radiation Oncology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, for her Master thesis. There she worked in the research area of improving proton radiation therapy by means of in-vivo beam range verification and control in particular for prostate tumors, demonstrating that anterior beams can be safely used for prostate cancer treatment with significant reduction of rectal dose.

From May 2015 to June 2016 she joined the research group, Department of Radiotherapy at the Utrecht Medical Center, NL to investigate MR-only treatment planning for radiation therapy. In particular the fast signal loss problem in bones for the Head and Neck site was investigated, employing ultrashort echo time pulse sequences.

In 2017 she started at the institute of Computer Assisted Clinical Medicine for her doctoral thesis investigating x-nuclei MRI in preclinical and clinical applications.

Michaela Hoesl is a member of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG), the Deutsche Gesellschaft f¸r medizinische Physik (DPMG), the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), and the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESMRMB).
