Matthias Malzacher received the B. Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Applied Science Mannheim and the University of Heidelberg in 2013. In 2015 he earned the M. Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering (with specialisation in Medical Electronics) and the M. Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering (with specialisation in Microwave Engineering) after attending the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Since 2015 he is a PhD student at the Institute of Computer Assisted Clinical Medicine (CKM) of the Medical Faculty Mannheim. His research is focused on the development of RF resonator systems for preclinical X-nuclei imaging at ultra-high fields and for clinical sodium imaging at 3T.

During his practical internship and his Bachelor thesis, both conducted at the CKM, he developed RF resonator systems for clinical sodium MR imaging of the human abdomen and spine at 3T. His Master thesis was conducted at Siemens Healthcare GmbH in Erlangen in the field of SNR simulations of local RF coils and the impact of coupled preamplifier noise.
