Institute for Medical Technology
of the University Heidelberg and the University of Applied Sciences Mannheim
The Institute for Medical Technology of the University Heidelberg and the University of Applied Sciences Mannheim (IMT) is an interdisciplinary and interuniversitary research institute founded in 2008 and jointly run by both universities.
The IMT is dedicated to interdisciplinary research in the field of medical technology, and to the provision of high quality education at undergraduate (BSc and MSc Programmes) and graduate (Graduate Programme) levels in natural sciences related to medicine, biotechnology, and medical informatics.
The IMT includes a network of university institutes, departments and work groups.
The IMT is led by a board of four directors named by the rectorates of both universities for a four year term (i.e. two professors from the Medical Faculty Mannheim and two professors from the University of Applied Science Mannheim) and for each an alternate director. The Board nominates the Director of IMedTech for a two year term.
