Dr. Valeska von Kiedrowski
Valeska von Kiedrowski studied chemical biology at the Technical University in Dortmund. She wrote her master thesis and dissertation in the field of natural product and synthetic organic chemistry under Prof. Dr. Martin Hiersemann. She succeeded in synthesizing the complex natural compounds Ecklonialacton B and Curvicollid C, whereby a complete structural elucidation was achieved by synthesizing different diastereomers. In addition, she was able to establish a synthesis pathway for the structurally related Fusaequisin A. In 2018, she was project leader at the wfk Cleaning Technology Institute in Krefeld where she worked on the production and functionalization of liposomes and nanoparticles.
Since 2019, she has been working on the development, synthesis and in vitro evaluation of fluorescence-labelled peptides for the early and highly specific optical imaging of human malignant melanomas as part of her postdoctoral thesis.
