Franziska Frey, M.Sc.

Since August 2025, Franziska Frey has been coordinating the Pediatric Shared Decision Making (PedSDM) project, which is funded by the Innvationsfonds, as a research assistant. The aim of the project is to identify, for the first time in Germany, the factors that enable the successful participation of chronically ill children, adolescents, and their parents in routine pediatric care. To this end, the research group is analyzing the current evidence on participation and shared decision making (SDM), systematizing existing knowledge and practical experience, and identifying barriers and enabling conditions. On this basis, context-sensitive recommendations are being developed to strengthen participation and SDM in pediatric care in the long term.

Franziska Frey is a state-certified health and pediatric nurse with many years of professional experience in neonatal intensive care. While studying interprofessional healthcare (B.Sc.) at Heidelberg University, she worked in the neonatal intensive care and monitoring unit at Heidelberg University Hospital (2017–2020). She then worked in the neonatal intensive care unit at Stuttgart Hospital until 2025. In addition to her nursing duties, she worked for the Nursing Science Department on internal hospital projects, such as the development of internal hospital guidelines. She obtained her master's degree in Nursing Science (M.Sc.) from the University of Freiburg.
