Regulations from 31.05.2021

The library is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to midnight (security takes over between 5pm & midnight) & Sat-Sun from 9am - 10pm.

From Monday to Friday you can book via the workstation reservation from 9am - 1pm and/or 1.30 pm - midnight. Sat & Sun the reservation is valid all day from 9am - 10pm.

117 workstations can be used in the main library and the annex with workstation reservation.

Books can be borrowed independently in the library or by ordering/collecting or dispatch. Masks are still mandatory (OP or FFP2), also at the workstations.

Compulsory use of masks, distance and hygiene rules, walking paths

Since 15.6.2021 masks are compulsory in UMM buildings, no longer outside. Therefore we ask you to keep your mouth and nose covering on in the library, this also applies at the workplaces.

Please enter the library one at a time and follow the paths marked with arrows on the floor and the general rules of distance (at least 1.50 metres). Hand disinfectants are available in the foyer and in the library.

Access authorization for UMM affiliates only

Until further notice, access authorization is limited to members of the faculty and the hospital. Please bring your student card or your staff ID card and show it at the counter. You will then receive an access card and, if necessary, a basket from us (the access card must be returned when leaving the library!)

Regulations for breaks: When you take a break, please leave your access card at the counter together with your library card.

 

Workstations

Until further notice, only the reading resp. WLAN workstations and the PC workstations (without using the computers) may be approved. In order to ensure that the distance rules are followed, we will mark which places may be used.

The group study rooms, the PC pools in the annex and the roundabout remain closed.

There are 4 monitors in the work area in the back for connecting to notebooks/iPads. However, due to corona conditions without keyboard/mouse.

Print

All devices in the print room may be used (black and white printer, multifunction printer, scan station). Please make use of the hand disinfectants provided! Please note that you have to bring your own device (notebook, tablet, ...) in order to print via upload (link Print account on the homepage, instructions are available), as all PCs in the library are not accessible. 

Borrowing & Returning

Borrowing on site

From 31.05.2021, books can again be borrowed on site with a short-term card or as part of the workplace reservation via the two self-checkout stations behind the roundabout.

From 25.01. you can also have books from our stock sent to you during the lockdown (for a flat processing fee, see below).

Conditions:

  • By placing an order, you agree to pay a handling fee of EUR 5.30 per order.
  • An order can contain a maximum of 5 books.
  • One order can be placed per week.

How does the order work?

Please write an e-mail to bibliothek@remove-this.medma.uni-heidelberg.de and name us:

  • The media you need (with signature if possible)
  • User number
  • Shipping address

In addition, you must state that you agree to pay the handling fee of EUR 5,30.

* Please always state "Library" and your user number as the purpose of payment. The eight-digit user number is printed on the library card.

Returns and renewals

You can check the loan periods of your borrowed items in your library account if necessary. If it is no longer possible to renew independently via your library account, please contact us (bibliothek@remove-this.medma.uni-heidelberg.de or 383-3710/3700).

ATTENTION: Access to house 42 - and thus to the BookReturn - is only possible without a key card during pick-up hours (Mon-Fri 8am-8pm, Sat-Sun 9am-8pm).

It is possible to return media via the book return station in the entrance hall - for reasons of hygiene, please do not require a return receipt (no operation of the touch screen).

Borrowing media is possible via the two self-check-out counters behind the roundabout - we will provide you with hand disinfectants.

Lockers, storage compartments, baskets

The lockers are accessible. Baskets are handed out at the counter on request.

The open storage compartments in the library are not accessible.

Courses

Some of the optional courses take place as online courses.

The Book a Librarian advice service will be continued by telephone and e-mail. Book an appointment online as usual, and the person who is responsible will contact you to make arrangements.

Submission of dissertations (theses)

Dissertations can be handed in on site, but we kindly ask you to choose postal delivery if possible. The delivery address can be found on our contact page

Validation of the student ID

Access to the validation machine is possible. Please note that even if you only want to validate, you will need an entrance card.

Discharge notes for the de-registration (exmatriculation)

Can be issued again on site, but if possible please request them by e-mail: bibliothek@remove-this.medma.uni-heidelberg.de.
