Dr. Laura Reffert studied biomedical chemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. She gained experience in radiochemistry at an early age and, among other things, completed scholarship-funded research stays with luminaries of the field - Prof. Dr. Joanna Fowler of Brookhaven National Laboratory, USA and Prof. Dr. Johannes Czernin of the University of California, Los Angeles, USA. Dr. Reffert’s dissertation addressed the synthesis and subsequent evaluation of radioactively labelled folic acid derivatives. Under Prof. Dr. med. Tobias Ross, she expanded her dissertation topic, completing her doctorate at Hannover Medical School with summa cum laude, also independently funded through scholarships.
Dr. Reffert is currently doing postdoctoral research under Prof. Dr. Wängler. Simultaneously, she is head of radiopharmaceutical production at the University Hospital Mannheim.
