New roles for old trafficking proteins. Drosophila avatars of human health and disease
Work using Drosophila has made many valuable contributions to our understanding of development, behavior, and physiology and of human disease.
Thomas Vaccari uses Drosophila as a model to understand the molecular mechanisms causing disease processes in humans. His work focuses on the question how endocytosed signalling receptors are inactivated and degraded in the lysosome. He is especially interested in control of Notch signalling activity in endosomes.
