Industry and Innovation Days 2024

The STMM Industry and Innovation Days, March 7 and 8, 2024, once again were an inspiration!

Many exciting speakers joined us for the Industry and Innovation Days 2024: we had time to learn about different jobs and career choices, how to present, network and what you need to bring you closer to getting hired in your next job. It was a great pleasure to network with all of the participants and speakers!

Thursday in the early afternoon participants started with Colin Bennett’s (Flames a Mile High) Psychology of Persuasive Presentations and then learned how to build their network in the Science of Networking session by Dr. Lenka Kyjacova (Molecular Health GmbH). After bringing their new networking skills into action during the break, the participants got some inside information about the “hiring room”: Dr. Kyjacova, accompanied by HR expert Svetlana Renschler (The Cultivated B GmbH), were ready to answer questions and bring insights.

On Friday morning Prof. Olga Belousova, Department of Innovation Management and Strategy, University of Groningen, took all the participants on the Entrepreneurship Journey and referred about the question what entrepreneurship entails. Then participants could join the Industry from the Inside session where representatives from large to small enterprises and start-ups gave short talks on their work and company activities.

During lunch there was plenty of time and opportunity to network with speakers and the local science, innovation and start-up networks, followed by the Keynote Lecture by Dr. Manasi Aichmüller-Ratnaparkhe from PAICON GmbH. Dr. Aichmüller-Ratnaparkhe not only showed what it is like to found your own start-up as a scientist, but also spotlighted the role of AI in the health field. 

The rest of the afternoon was dedicated to Career Perspectives. During the interactive round table session, participants received insights on what it takes to develop a successful career both inside and outside the academic environment from successful academic group leaders, scientific project managers, global industry professionals and founders.

Finally, we wrapped up our day with more opportunities for networking during coffee and snacks.
