If you wish, you may also use the corporate design for posters provided by the FGV Zentrum: https://www.umm.uni-heidelberg.de/fakultaet/fgv-medienzentrum/download/
Whether this is your first poster or you just want a refresher, you can find a free online tutorial on the University of Heidelberg Graduate Academy's website - Nature Masterclasses: https://www.graduateacademy.uni-heidelberg.de/karriere/naturemasterclasses.html (Look for the course ‘Creating successful research posters’)
Poster award: all posters will be evaluated for a poster award:
- Best scientific poster: evaluated by a jury of principal investigators, this award is given for scientific merit.
- Best poster design: evaluated by the audience, this award is given for visual appeal, clarity, and design.
Speaker guidelines
Learning goals for presenters of short talks and flash talks: concisely and engagingly explain complex scientific concepts or findings to a non-specialist audience
Short talk guidelines
Please include one or more slides that explain, in a way accessible to a broad audience, the background of your project and the methodology used.
Flash talk guidelines
Please prepare a graphical abstract of your research. Rules (adapted from the Three-minute-thesis competition):
- A single static slide is permitted. No slide transitions, animations or 'movement' of any description are allowed. The single slide should not simply be a snapshot of your poster nor one slide with animations that walk through the panels of your poster.
- The slide is to be presented from the beginning of the flash talk.
- No additional electronic media (e.g. sound and video files) are permitted.
- Presentations are limited to 3 minutes maximum. Presenters exceeding 3 minutes will incur a penalty at the poster awards.
- Consider finishing on a question to incite your audience to go and see the poster
