The Mannheim Medical User Experience and Usability Innovations Lab serves as a controlled environment for evaluating and testing digital products in the field of medicine, such as medical devices, medical software, and mobile applications. The M²AXI Usability Lab is located in the heart of the University Medical Center Mannheim, facilitating direct collaboration with medical device stakeholders such as medical staff and patients. The M²AXI Usability Lab is an integral component of the Mannheim ecosystem of real-world laboratories in medical technology. The facility is open to all UMM researchers and also external stakeholders such as start-ups, larger companies, or scientific research groups from other universities.

The usability lab can be utilized during various phases of the development and testing of medical products and software. For example, you can not only check the user-friendliness of your medical products, but also test the effects of design changes in various iteration cycles. By conducting usability testing in our lab in the early phases of product development, developers can obtain direct and valuable feedback on the usability of the product prior to its production. This proactive approach allows for the enhancement of new medical technology products before their market launch, thereby contributing to improved product quality and user experience.
