Literature search service

You are a staff member of the University Medical Center Mannheim and need expert advice on and assistance with a search in specialist databases. Volker Braun and Maurizio Grilli of the library team will be happy to provide this support for you free of charge.

After regular consultation with you (see below contact form with appointment arrangement), we will first break down your most precise question into individual search-relevant aspects. For each aspect we then select suitable terms, usually both thesaurus terms and free terms for searching in title and abstract.

Then we usually search the PubMed and Cochrane Library databases. Depending on the search question and type of work, other databases such as Embase, Web of Science Core Collection, PsychINFO, CINAHL and ClinicalTrials.gov are also used.

The respective exported results are usually imported into the reference management program EndNote, where double hits are removed. We will then send you the EndNote library.

We precisely document the search strings and number of hits per database and make the documentation available to you.
