Information for doctoral students

Borrowing

  • As a student of the Medical Faculty Mannheim you have an exclusive borrowing authorization for our textbook collection.

Reference search and -management, document delivery

  • Detailed information on searching for books, journals, articles, dissertations, clinical studies, ...

  • Literature which is neither printed nor electronically available in our library can be ordered from other libraries via the Document Delivery Service (LLD).

Electronic media and access options

  • Within the faculty network (i.e. also in the library rooms) you have access to numerous electronic media (e-journals, e-books, databases) that are subject to licensing.

  • From outside the faculty network you can access them with the identification of your library card.

Printing, copying, scanning, computer/notebook use

  • Printing and copying is possible with a library card, but is only free of charge for doctoral students with a work contract/scholarship and for doctoral students who print in a department via a centrally stored so-called Hiwi print card. Scanning is free of charge for all doctoral students.

  • Information on the use of computers/notebooks in the library.

Courses, advice and eLearning

We offer group courses on fixed dates including two special courses for doctoral candidates (in German), individual consultations (Book a Librarian), and online tutorials in Moodle in cooperation with the Department of Medical Statistics (SciTec@MedMa; in German).

The Department of Medical Statistics offers individual consultations for various programs, statistical consulting, and scripts and information sheets on SAS and Excel, see Services (in German).

SciTec@MedMa - Scientific work at the Mannheim Medical Faculty

On the platform SciTec@MedMa (Moodle; in German) you will receive general information about the doctorate in Mannheim and you can use self-study tutorials for biomedical information research and EndNote (reference management), SAS, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
