The Mannheim Institute for Intelligent Systems in Medicine (MIISM) is an innovative research institution dedicated to the development and application of intelligent technologies in healthcare. Our goal is to improve medical care and promote personalized treatment options through the use of artificial intelligence and modern data analysis methods. We work on an interdisciplinary basis and cooperate closely with clinics, research institutions and industry to develop solutions that increase both the efficiency and quality of patient care. Through our research, we want to help overcome the challenges in the healthcare sector and actively shape the future of medicine.
The Mannheim Institute for Intelligent Systems in Medicine (MIISM) has a highly qualified core faculty specializing in three main fields. The area of “Information Systems in Medical Technology” is dedicated to the development and implementation of advanced information systems aimed at optimizing medical care.

The members of MIISM are experts from various disciplines, including computer science, medicine, biostatistics and engineering. This diversity enables a holistic approach to solving complex medical problems. The structure of the institute encourages collaboration between scientists, clinics and industry partners to develop practical solutions and ensure the transfer of knowledge into clinical practice.
Junior Research Groups

We support young scientists through targeted research groups. These groups offer young scientists the opportunity to develop innovative projects in an interdisciplinary environment. Through mentoring and workshops, we encourage creativity and excellence so that members can develop new solutions to challenges in healthcare. This is how we shape the future of medicine together.
Biomedical Engineering is an interdisciplinary degree program that combines engineering, biology and medicine. Students learn to develop technologies and devices that improve healthcare, such as medical imaging, prostheses and biomedical devices. The aim is to find innovative solutions to complex medical challenges and improve the quality of life of patients. The program offers exciting career opportunities in research, industry and clinical applications.
