The Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Core Facility is run at the Institute for Clinical Chemistry. It offers high throughput sequencing analytics with an additional focus on single-cell sequencing within the Medical Faculty Mannheim as a service.
The lab has a strong four-year NGS experience using the IonTorrent semiconductor technology and has started working with Illumina now. Depending on your project requirements, we will assist or conduct the library preparation, perform the sequencing reaction and will provide the sequencing files. Additionally, we offer a bioinformatics support if requested.
Equipment
The NGS Core Facility is running two different NGS technologies, each of which have advantges/disadvantages depending on the application. Specifically, three different NGS platforms including the Illumina NextSeq 550, an Illumina MiSeq as well as an IonTorrent PGM System are being used. In order to allow single cell sequencing, the lab runs a 10xGenomics platform that uses droplet technology to generate single cell suspensions. All platforms are run as operator-based systems.
