Vascular endothelial control of innate immunity and immune cell trafficking

At the Stellos Lab (www.StellosLab.com), our research focuses on how innate immune responses, particularly mediated by myeloid and endothelial cells, contribute to inflammation that underlies a range of vascular and metabolic disorders. We are especially interested in RNA editing and RNA modification that regulate key immune pathways, impacting inflammatory signalling pathways and tissue repair. By studying these post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms, our team investigates how the innate and adaptive immune system shapes disease processes such as atherosclerosis, heart failure, and metabolic dysfunction-associated diseases. We employ cutting-edge molecular biology approaches, high-throughput sequencing, and patient-derived samples to identify novel regulators of tissue inflammation in age-related diseases. Our goal is to pinpoint precise biomarkers and therapeutic targets that can modulate immune-driven pathology and improve clinical outcomes. Through collaborative efforts across immunology, cardiovascular medicine, endothelial and RNA biology, we aspire to transform basic mechanistic insights into innovative strategies for preventing and treating chronic inflammatory diseases.
