Junior Research Group: Intelligent Imaging for Adaptive Radiotherapy

About Us

The Junior Research Group "Intelligent Imaging for Adaptive Radiotherapy" investigates how advanced imaging can guide and personalize high-precision radiotherapy.

Research Focus

Our research focuses on image-guided adaptation using intrafractional imaging modalities - such as high-resolution cone-beam CT - to enable dynamic treatment plan adjustments and improve precision. By analyzing multiparametric data from MRI, PET, and CBCT, we aim to identify imaging biomarkers that support individualization of adaptive radiotherapy. In addition, we investigate the clinical translation of next-generation imaging technologies, including photon-counting CT and functional MRI, to enhance tumor characterization and optimize therapeutic outcomes.

Collaborations

The research group is embedded in an interdisciplinary environment within the University Hospital, Medical Faculty of Mannheim, and partners within MIiSM, the M2OLIE research campus, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), and the DKFZ Hector Cancer Institute.
