Dear members of the DIAMICOM community, dear colleagues,

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Hendrik Buikema, a committed member of our DIAMICOM community.

Hendrik was a very committed and loyal colleague who worked within the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology of the UMCG. As nestor and guardian of 'his' vascular lab, he has made an important contribution to the vascular research within his department, but also in collaboration with many other departments within and outside the UMCG, including DIAMICOM. He also made an extensive and crucial contribution to academic education, in particular to scientific training within the Life Sciences and Medicine degree programs at the University of Groningen.

Hendrik was one of the most long-standing partners of the Groningen-Mannheim axis and will be remembered as a most friendly, supportive, social and reliable colleague. We will miss Hendrik enormously and we wish his family and friends a lot of strength with this loss.
