Apart from its primary role as a research center, ECAS plays a pivotal role in the training and career development of the next generation of Angioscience researchers focusing on the critical window from bachelor and master training to the junior group leader level.

The Medical Faculty Mannheim is a comprehensive medical faculty offering preclinical as well as clinical training. Beyond the medical core curriculum, it offers distinguished biomedical master level programs. Research activities at the Medical Faculty Mannheim focus mainly on four research areas: Oncology, Neuronal Plasticity, Vascular Medicine and Medical Technology. The active participation of almost all clinics and institutes in these areas, including ECAS, reflect the strong interdisciplinary approach and foster intense synergy. This interdisciplinary approach is further strengthened by the cooperation with the University of Mannheim, the University of Applied Sciences Mannheim, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Medical Research and the sister Medical Faculty in Heidelberg
