Step 1: Service registration

Make an appointment with LIMa staff via lima@ for an Initial User Meeting medma.uni-heidelberg.de

Consent to LIMa User Agreements and complete the registration form with signatures

Provide the information on the origin of the samples (filling “Formblatt Aufz Core Facility”) when working with genetically modified organism (GMO) Zimmermann (House 42)
Step 2: Safety briefings

Laser safety briefing: held annually, mandatory for users working with confocal microscopy systems or other instruments including lasers

General safety briefing: mandatory for all users; responsible persons are Dr. Karin Haack, Ina Schäfer (Tridomus) and Camela Jost (House 42)

Facility access control: contact persons are Klaus Lehmann (Tridomus) and Dr. Silvia Zimmermann (House 42)
Step 3: Microscope training
The user will be granted access to the microscope after completing training specific to that model. Please contact LIMa staff to schedule training appointments.
Step 4: Booking microscopes
Microscopes should be booked on Clustermarket: https://app.clustermarket.com/login
Please note that a booking has a maximum duration of four hours between 7am and 7pm; extended sessions are possible outside of this 12h time window (e.g., for time-lapse recordings).
In addition, cases listed below are subject to prior approval by the CF management:
- More than three bookings per week per user
- Early booking (more than 6 weeks in advance)
- Serial consecutive bookings (e.g., by users from the same group)
- Parallel bookings of confocal microscopes

Booking other devices or services
For booking other devices (e.g., image analysis workstations) or requesting support (e.g., refresher training, consultations), please contact the CF LIMa staff.
