Cochrane Library, a comprehensive resource for evidence based medicine, is maintained by the Cochrane Collaboration, an independent worldwide network of scientists, medical doctors and healthcare experts.
The Cochrane Collaboration´s most important database includes systematic high-quality reviews (Cochrane Reviews) and protocols on controlled clinical trials in full text. The references in this database are also included in ACCESSSS, PubMed and PubMed Health.
The DARE database contains quality checked bibliographic records or appraisals (structured abstracts) of sytematic reviews. These reviews have not been elaborated by the Cochrane Collaboration. Every structured abstract consists of a summary and a critial comment. There are about 20.000 not-commented and 13.500 commented records. The references in this database are also included in ACCESSSS and PubMed Health.
Note: This freely accessible database of the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination, University of York, produced records only until 3/2015 due to a lack of funding.
The CENTRAL database comprises bibliographic data of published articles about the results of randomized controlled trials (RCT) and controlled clinical trials (CCT). These references are taken from PubMed, EMBASE and further resources.
